Peer Counseling and Support


The majority of the Independence Now staff are people who have disabilities. We have had similar life experiences as our consumers and have had to navigate service systems.

We develop a special relationship with our consumers that centers around the development of an Independent Living Plan.

Here's how it works:
  1. The consumer identifies their goal(s).
  2. The consumer and staff develop strategies for reaching the consumer's goal(s).
  3. The consumer takes the steps to reach his/her goal(s).
  4. The IN staff:
    • encourage
    • support
    • coach
    • advise
    • advocate as needed.

Peer Support:
