National Blondie Brownie Day | Sarah’s Recipe

Nothing beats a cold winter weekend than a warm, ooey-gooey brownie. In the mood for something different? Why not try a blondie brownie! Independence Now Executive Director, Sarah Basehart, shared her family recipe with us and we can’t wait to try it! It’s in honor of #NationalBlondieBrownieDay, so calories don’t count ???.


  • 1 Cup Butter
  • ¾ Cup brown sugar
  • ¾ Cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp hot water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups oatmeal
  • 2 cups chocolate chips


Cream butter and sugars.

Add eggs, water, and vanilla. Blend.

Combine flour, soda, and salt.

Add flour mixture gradually and beat well. Stir in oatmeal and chips.

Bake in greased 9×13 pan for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
