Adaptive Tennis US is a nonprofit organization that provides professional tennis coaching and training to individuals with physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities.
The program was founded by Dr. Karl Lee, a retired dentist and avid tennis player who was inspired by one of his patients who participated in a hockey program for disabled veterans. Beginning as Wounded Warrior Tennis, Dr. Lee realized that there many more people could benefit from tennis, such as those who experienced a traumatic accident or those who did not have use of one or more of their sensory tools. “The platform of tennis can be a tool for allowing others to discover the potential within themselves, to build self-confidence and motivation. Hence the eventual emergence of Adaptive Tennis US.”
Adaptive Tennis US is offered free of charge and is open to all. The program offers use of equipment, court time, tennis training, and adjunctive physical training. Clinics are held on Mondays at the following locations in Montgomery County:
