Consumer Testimonial – Housing Journey

Green graphic that says I am happy to report my housing came through and I am now living in a nice two-bedroom apartment with my son. It is very nice to have a home, and nice to have my son living with me again.

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a few years ago. One day I was searching online for help – help with housing, medical, and food, etc. I came across Independence Now and the advertisement got my attention, I called and that’s how I met Rochelle Harrod at Independence Now. From the very first phone call, Ms. Harrod was encouraging, knowledgeable, professional, willing to listen to me – just a true blessing. Since I have met Ms. Harrod and been involved with the Independence Now Program I am no longer homeless.

I had met with Ms. Harrod about one year ago and she placed me on the CCH waiting list for housing and I am happy to report my housing came through and I am now living in a nice 2 bedroom apartment with my son. It is very nice to have a home, and nice to have my son living with me again. I can call Ms. Harrod regarding any issue I have and she always helps and points me in the right direction. Unfortunately recently, someone tried to break into my apartment and I was scared. I called and told Ms. Harrod and she suggested that I speak to the rental office and try to get an ADP security system as a reasonable accommodation. I am in the process of doing that now. These are just a few examples of the help Ms. Harrod has given to me. I just wanted you to know what an asset Rochelle Harrod is to Independence Now. I know she is God-sent to me. Thank you.
