Celebrating Gail’s Journey of Progress and Gratitude

Gai Headshot outside the hospital for Center for Advanced Technology.

“Thinking about gratefulness and how it makes me feel. I am so incredibly grateful that I can finally see the progress in my life after 2 brain surgeries. It has been a long 7 years since my first brain surgery and 6 years for my second. I went through so many health challenges one after another with so many doctor appointments that it felt like I had a full-time job going back and forth to the doctors. I can honestly say that 2024 has been a year of progress and growth for me. I am so thankful and grateful for God giving me the strength to keep going no matter how many times I get knocked down. I decided that 2024 was going to be my year to work on some long -term and short-term goals that were important to me. I went back to college earlier this year to finish my degree in Information Technology, which I am in the process of doing now. I am planning to start a small business in January 2025. I am still dealing with health challenges, but it is getting better.

For the first time in years, I feel like I am living life and not just existing. I am so appreciative of the relationship that I have with Independence Now, especially their assistance and support in my life. My encounter with Independence was a blessing right from the start I will always be associated with this organization. They offer so much education, support, outreach, classes and advocacy for a person with a disability that it is truly amazing.”

We are grateful to support Gail through her journey and to witness her working toward her goals with such dedication. Stories like hers remind us why we are committed to providing the resources, advocacy, and support that allow people to live fully and independently.
