This week, our team had the privilege of meeting with staff from Senator Chris Van Hollen’s and Representative Jamie Raskin’s offices to discuss Independence Now services and speak to the legislation that matters most to our community. We had important discussions around:
- Funding Centers for Independent Living (CILs) – A vital resource for independence and empowerment.
- Supporting Medicaid & Home and Community Based Services – Ensuring access to necessary healthcare for people with disabilities.
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act – Defending equality and the rights of individuals with disabilities.
- Protecting services supported by the U.S. Department of Education – Ensuring quality education and support for all students.
- Consumer services at Independence Now – how to refer constituents who would benefit from our services.
Together, we’re fighting to ensure that every person has the resources and opportunities to live independently and thrive. Let’s keep pushing for a world where everyone can live with dignity and choice!
