Getting where you need to go shouldn’t be a barrier—and thanks to the Endependence Center of Northern Virginia (ECNV), it doesn’t have to be.

Did you know that ECNV offers travel training for people with disabilities throughout the DMV area covered by WMATA? This empowering program is designed to help individuals build the confidence and skills they need to navigate public transportation safely and independently.

Whether you’re commuting to work, heading to school, or running everyday errands, travel training opens doors to greater freedom and self-reliance. With personalized support, ECNV’s Travel Trainers help you learn how to:

  • Use wayfinding tools to navigate Metro, buses, sidewalks, and bike paths
  • Travel safely with guidance and support
  • Plan your own trips and become confident with fixed-route transportation
  • Access WMATA disability services, including MetroAccess and reduced fare cards
  • Use your bike or e-bike alongside public transit for more flexibility

This program is open to both beginners and seasoned travelers who want to refine their skills.
