A Day to Recharge: Highlights from Independence Now’s 2025 Staff Retreat

A slideshow of Independence Now staff enjoying their annual retreat: painting masks, smiling with a therapy dog, engaging in games like charades, and attending a wellness talk. Candid, joyful moments show relaxation, connection, and creativity.

At Independence Now, our staff work every day to empower people with disabilities to live independently and on their own terms. It’s rewarding work—but it’s also demanding. That’s why our annual staff retreat is so important: it gives our team a chance to reflect, recharge, and reconnect.

This year’s retreat was filled with energy, laughter, and moments of meaningful self-care. One of the highlights was a thoughtful wellness presentation by Dr. Holly Plotnick, who offered helpful insights into managing stress and prioritizing personal well-being in the midst of busy schedules.

Staff also enjoyed petting time with a calm and friendly therapy dog—an experience many described as grounding and therapeutic. The day was rounded out with mask painting, a lively game of charades, and a scavenger hunt that got everyone moving and collaborating in fun, creative ways.

More than just a break from routine, this retreat reminded us how important it is to care for ourselves so we can better serve others. We’re grateful for our incredible team and proud to invest in their wellness and growth.
