Lighting Your Path: Illuminate and Cook III

Our latest Lighting Your Path: Illuminate and Cook III session was a big success! Teamwork truly made the dream work as participants came together to prepare two delicious dishes: fresh fruit salad and cheesy quesadillas.
This hands-on workshop gave everyone the chance to practice adaptive cooking skills like safe knife techniques while exploring the textures and flavors of fruits and vegetables. From slicing strawberries to mixing pineapple into a big green bowl, the room was filled with energy, focus, and a lot of laughter. And the best part? Everyone agreed the results were tasty and satisfying!

We are so grateful to Independence Now, Metropolitan Washington Ear, and Able Services for supporting this program and helping us continue to build confidence and independence in the kitchen.

Images: Four photos showing a group of participants gathered in a bright community room for an adaptive cooking activity. They sit around tables with trays of fresh fruits and vegetables, wearing gloves while preparing dishes. One woman smiles as she mixes pineapple into a large green bowl, while another participant slices strawberries at his tray. A griddle on the counter cooks quesadillas topped with greens, and the walls are decorated with colorful murals and a sign that reads “Invisible No More.” Alt text embedded in individual images.
