Independence Now hosted its annual Women’s Tea on March 13, 2026. Guests enjoyed a delicious assortment of teas along with food and great company. Tyree Brown was the featured speaker who’s also a gifted, award-winning artist. She provided encouraging messages about resilience and adapting as a person with a disability. Rochelle Harrod, Prince George’s Independent Living Specialist, was presented with a proclamation signed by Maryland Governor Wes Moore for her 17 years of dedicated service with Independence Now. There were also raffle gift drawings including the grand prize of a luxurious hand painted tea set that was generously donated by Blue Dreams USA, which is an exquisite lavender, tea and roses farm in Frederick, MD. Sadie, who is an organization consumer, won the treasured gift.
