Congratulations to all the remarkable individuals honored by Governor Wes Moore at the 2026 Governor’s Disability Pride Month Awards Ceremony! Award recipients included Cathy Raggio, Independence Now founder/former Executive Director and former Secretary of Disabilities, and Congressman Steny Hoyer, recipient of the inaugural Legacy Award. The ceremony was co-sponsored by the Maryland Department of Disabilities and the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council to salute the advocates whose leadership, strength, and passion continue to push Maryland toward a more accessible and inclusive future.
During his remarks, Gov. Moore commented, “Today, we don’t just celebrate a historic law passed 36 years ago; we honor the extraordinary Marylanders who actively build an inclusive state where no one is left behind. These award recipients show us what true belonging looks like, and their leadership will inspire generations to come.”
