At Independence Now, our mission is driven by a simple truth: our impact is only as strong as the people who deliver it. Every single day, our team works tirelessly to expand access, foster independence, and create meaningful opportunities for individuals with disabilities across Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
While many of you interact with our programs, you might not always see the dedication, passion, and unique stories of the individuals working behind the scenes to make them happen. That is why I am incredibly thrilled to introduce our brand-new spotlight series: “People Behind the Program.”
Over the coming weeks, we will pull back the curtain to introduce you to each of our staff members. Through this series, you will get to know the managers, coordinators, and specialists who run and support programs, navigate complex systems alongside our participants, and champion true equity in our communities. You will learn about what drives their commitment, their favorite moments on the job, and the vision they have for a more inclusive Maryland.
Our staff members are the heartbeat of our organization. Their expertise and lived experiences shape the vital services we provide, from independent living skills training to community advocacy. We believe that by sharing their stories, we can foster deeper connections with the participants, families, partners, and supporters who make our shared journey possible.
